RIM CEO gives good demonstration of cluelessness

At the Web 2.0 conference, RIM (Blackberry) CEO Basillie tells Steve Jobs, “You don’t need an app for the web”: here – Thus, in one sentence, showing just how clueless Blackberry’s tablet strategy is. If a faster browser is all they have, the (badly named, imo) Playbook is going to be pretty much a non-player in the tablet market.

A couple of Apple predictions

1. I think that by the end of 2012, iOS and Mac OS X will either be merged or be well under way. The announcements of what will be in OS X 10.7 are already showing movement in that direction, to complete the transition and to create the capability to have apps that scale from the iPod Touch all the way to the top of the line desktop system only makes sense.

2. This is less a prediction than a gut feeling. I think the ability of Apps to talk to each other and thus be used as building blocks to create utilities from multiple app will exist by the time the 2 OSes are merged. This, too, only makes senses.

Hi world!

Welcome to my world! I’ll be rambling here about the adventures of learning to develop for the iPhone/iPad and about using WordPress for web development, as well as a bit of photography and life in general. Although I’m a political junkie, I will try to stay away from politics here. My posterous blog, http://thejerseyguy.posterous.com is used for that.
